2015 Reserve Shiraz

$73.00

Hand-picked Shiraz from our own vineyard is used to craft this intense and powerful wine, which drinks impressively as a youngster but will age and develop for decades to come. Macerated and fermented in open vats, the best portion of the wine is racked to new Burgundy hogsheads for 22 months. It is racked from barrels and bottled 2 days later and aged for 15 months in bottle before release.  The 2015 Reserve Shiraz is the 12th consecutive release, an achievement that underpins the quality of the vineyard.

Deep burgundy red.  Lifted Perfume of dark black fruits with notes of anise, liquorice and tar.  The palate is super soft and full of dense fruit richness.  Its powerfully structured, has great length and a strong tannin backbone.  Whilst clearly very youthful, the wine is remarkably approachable.  It is full of potential and its wonderful aromas and flavours will blossom and develop over many years.

Description

“Quality from first sip. Has a medium weight profile but bouquet and palate are deeply flavoured offering concentrated dark berry fruits, black olive, anise, fennel, saltbush character. Sweetness swirls in compact tannins that corkscrew long and fine to the peppery/earthy finish. Texture is seductive with layers of thick silk. It’s a formidable wine here offering a quiet purr of inky, regal shiraz.”
