Wignall’s Vineyard in Albany was planted 40 years ago, less than 10 kilometres from Western Australia’s southern coast. The cool, wet winters, & warm, dry summers are moderated by the strong maritime influence. The mild climate combined with the laterite gravelly soil create an ideal site for Pinot Noir that has rightly built an enviable reputation for quality over time
The hand picked fruit was partially crushed and fermented with a portion of whole bunches, racked and aged in new French oak for 9 months – with the aim to allow the fruit characters to be the highlight. It shows sappy, pomegranate and cranberry aromas with spice and cedary oak notes. The palate is round and full flavoured with plush tannins and a long soft finish. Classy
