2016 Petit Verdot

Fruit from Faber Vineyard.  Very simple winemaking lets the fruit “speak for itself”. The wine has a lifted perfume of violets, berries and spice. It is elegant and medium bodied with a burst of dark fruits on the palate, followed by mouth coating powdery tannins through the finish.

“Warm climate and a good variety for it equals magic when done right. Unashamed, fuller flavoured, sweet and warm hearted wine, righteously done – and all that at 13% alcohol.”

“Scents of young port, ripe cherry, cinnamon/clove spice, mint chocolate, lavender and violets. The palate dances to a similar beat but feels lively and finely structured, set up on a wave of silky fruit and then finishes with a gentle tug of tannins. It’s even, fresh-feeling, tightly wound yet accessible in its drinking in youth. I’d say that it should cellar well despite its immediate appeal. Fine expression here”
